Warnings
It has come to our attention that an Irish organisation is making false claims on a number of points in promoting their play therapy training courses:
- It has been claimed that these course have been accredited by IBECPT (The International Board of Examiners of Certified Play Therapists) for CPD purposes.
Play Therapy International (PTI) who is responsible for administering the IBECPT standards categorically confirms that the only courses
run in Ireland that meet the required standards are those delivered by APAC.
- The same organisation claims that their courses are run at Post Graduate level.
This is misleading because only courses validated or accredited by a recognised university can lead to a Post Graduate award. The only
play therapy courses currently run in Ireland with valid Post Graduate awards are the APAC courses which are run in a collaborative
partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University and which have been approved at HETAC level 9 by the NQAI. Please check the
IBECPT provider status of any course you want to undertake with PTI on ptiorg@aol.com.
- IBECPT/PTI CPD points/credits have been offered by the same organisation.
The IBECPT/PTI credentials and membership of the person awarding these points have lapsed. Further the procedures required to award
these points have not been carried out for a number of years, despite a number of reminders. Any CPD credits awarded by this organisation are invalid.
If you are affected or distressed in any way because of these false claims please contact
ptiorg@aol.com to see if we can help.
Please also warn others so that they do not waste their time and money.
